Spain vs Chile , Maracana, Rio FIFA World Cup 2014

Just two games for Spain and history is written, Spain bows out of the world cup 2014 with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Chile.
First-half goals from Eduardo Vargas and Charles Aranguiz were enough to give Chile a deserved win, which spells the end of Spain's defence of their title.
The defending champions (La Roja) looked shaky from the start and it was proved not until the 20th minute of the match when Vargas calmly slotted the ball past Iker Casillas into the bottom left hand corner of the goal. Casillas didn't have a good day at all, the seond goal in the 43rd minute was all but his howler. A beautifully taken free kick by Sanchez was parried into the legs of Aranguiz, who placed the ball in the goal with the outside of his right boot.
Spain did have a couple of chances of their own to turn the game around, Sergio Busquets missed an open goal opportunity, after getting the ball across from a Diego Costa's bicycle kick. Santi Cazorla tried to put the ball in the back of the net in the second half but Chilean goalkeeper Bravo made a fabulous save , diving to his right. The introduction of Fernando Torres in place of Diego Costa didn't spur any change as was anticipated.
All in all it was an absolutely wonderful performance by Sampaoli's men, they scored two goals in the first half and didn't concede a single goal from wave after wave of attack by the defending champions.
And as they say impossible is nothing, Chile just proved that and Spain are out of this prestigious tournament with back to back defeats at the hands of the Netherlands and Chile.
